niścaya tātparya
Perseverance (niścaya) to understand the essential meaning (tātparya) of what I hear in the first stage of vedānta: śravaṇa, listening.
Extended definition:
- nishcaya tatparya
Moreover, it is perseverance to logically test my own experience (anubhava) against the meaning (tātparya) and to reason out the logic of the teaching in the second stage of vedānta: manana, reflection. Only when I have understood and recognized that and how I am the truth itself can I fully choose to be the full self (ātma varaṇam).
Finally, it is perseverance (niścaya) to permanently be the meaning itself (nididhyāsana, contemplation) and to practice what that means in life. Then I will finally see that life is temporarily happening within me, and I am not in life.
