VEDANTA

Science of Consciousness

atma vismrti

We look over ourselves, as it were, when we search for truth. The self as the true ground of everything is the truth. In the consciousness sciences, too, they continue to objectify consciousness. It can never find itself that way, of course.

But also for aspirants of freedom with vedānta knowledge, often have difficulty really (daring) to apply the knowledge to themselves. This obstacle is called asambhava, which means impossibility, inapplicability, unfeasibility. “How can full, non-dual freedom also apply to me?” Manana, the second stage of vedānta: reflecting on the knowledge associated with oneself, preferably with a teacher, is the way to remove this obstacle.

The explanation of this Sanskrit term was written by Simon de Jong.
