Svabhava

On a human level, the term encompasses tendencies and tendencies – in short, nature that is shaped and revealed by attitudes, habits, and behaviors. I can be an athlete at first, but then I discover the artist in me.

At first a man has worldly svabhas, but if one applies himself to karma yoga as a preparation for knowledge, one is a karma yogi, a devotee to īśvara.

At the highest level, everyone’s svabhāva is existence itself, shining as consciousness.

The svabhāva of īśvara is māyā, you might say.

The explanation of this Sanskrit term was written by Simon de Jong.
