VEDANTA

Science of Consciousness

mundaka

Compare the philosophical method of Ockham’s razor, which invites us to tackle a problem at its core with minimal, appropriate means.

The baldness of monks points to their status as sannyāsī, in which worldly obligations have been laid off, shaved off, as it were. Inner sannyās is the removal of attachment to inner and outer objects.

Thus Vedānta shaves the nonsense of the meaning of existence. What is the meaning of existence? That is yourself.

Muṇḍana and muṇḍaka mean approximately the same thing.

The explanation of this Sanskrit term was written by Simon de Jong.
